About Us
EDUCATION
Weekly life drawing and painting classes incorporate classical traditions of the
Renaissance masters. Working from live models, artists from beginning to
advanced levels have the opportunity to develop and refine their artistic skills.

Artist Workshops are scheduled throughout the year and focus on further skill
development, exploration, and expression.

Weekly art classes focus on preparing the emerging artist with the foundational
tools needed for continued artistic growth.

ENVIRONMENT
Capitol Art Center at S12 currently accommodates 5 open studio sessions a week
where artists come and draw or paint from a model. No instruction is offered,
(except Tuesday afternoons), and all levels are welcome. An affordable
membership plan is available for artists to work in the large studio space and
partake in other opportunities at S12. Providing an environment where artists can
practice, develop and further their own artistic growth is a high priority at S12.

Biweekly "board meetings" provide an opportunity to gather for some refreshment,
critique, debriefing on the process of art making and lively discussions after the
evening studio sessions.

Every month, Capitol Art Center and the Patris Studio at S12 participate in the
city-wide 2nd Saturday Art Walk. Artists and art lovers from near and far visit the
exhibitions, meet the artists, and observe artists in action as they paint or draw in
the Art Center.

EXHIBITION
From emerging to nationally known artists, a diverse range of level and skill are
showcased at S12 and in the Patris Studio. The main theme that runs throughout
the artwork is the artist's pursuit of painting and drawing from life - whether
figurative, still life, or en plein air.
